DLH - Health Outreach Van and Health Fair:

This event takes place on the weekends from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

“Since most community members do not have access to health and human services, it is way passed due time that health professionals and providers reach out to them through trained and certified Community Health Promoters (CHPs).  Suffice it to say, reaching out to the communities through these health community liaisons is not just public health best practice; but also it is an effective way to improve community health, and reduce health disparities while creating paid jobs for CHPs who make a significant difference in the communities and people’s lives.”_Martin Ekoumou, MD, MPH.

DLH-Health Outreach Van and Health Fair is a unique community health promotion outreach through DLH health promoters along with local volunteers and health professionals (physicians, dentists, registered nurses, public health and allied health professionals and students).  They conduct basic health education and diseases awareness workshops; lead sessions of individual group, and family counseling and orientation; perform First Aid and Safety; screen for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, blood glucose, obesity and overweight.
Screened individuals with significant clinical findings are referred, and linked to local medical clinics and health agencies for further intervention.  Furthermore, they are followed up by DLH CHPs.
